Cath Kidston founded her brand in 1993, opening a small shop in London’s Holland Park. Inspired by her love of vintage prints and English heritage, she started by selling hand-stitched tea towels, ironing board covers, and refurbished furniture.
Cath Kidston became synonymous with vibrant florals and playful patterns, capturing the essence of "modern vintage."
The brand fell into administration in 2020, leading to the closure of its 60 UK stores. Despite this, the brand was acquired and continued to operate online, with a focus on e-commerce.
